can i buy iphone 5 unlocked in USA and use it in Europa?

I live in Sweden and want to buy an iPhone 5, but it is really expensive here, but I have cousins ??in the US and if I ask them to buy an iphone 5 unlocket (when it comes out) and use it in europe?will it work in any network then?
